First and foremost: I want to mention that a good deal of my current mental motivational material is courtesy of Robert "Brix" Glover , aka: Brix Fitness (Twitter , YouTube Channel , Podcast) - super down to earth real dude. He seems to always drop some form of knowledge (life, exercise, business) in his videos and podcasts, etc... ...at least if you have your ears open. There are others, no doubt. But there's something special about this dude.
Okay, back to me...
So, at the moment, I'm doing 2 week stints in regards to work out routines (which I plan on outlining on a different page), but the highlights look something like this, so far:
- First week of March: last sip of alcohol (still have a 1/4 bottle of rum in the fridge)
- A week or two leading up to April 23:
- Slowly tightening down on type of food consumption
- Stretching / calisthenics (intermittently)
- Start training my body to get to bed between 8-8:30p, and up around 4:30-4:45a
- April 23 - May 4 (adjusting eating habits)
- Gym exercise bike (20min) & Simple Stretching (Mon, Wed, Fri)
- Half mini workout (Tues, Thurs)
- Cracking down and getting more strict about my sleep hours
- May 7 - May 19 (sugary food intake cut down: next to nothing extra)
- Gym exercise bike 20min & Mini workout w/calisthenics (Mon, Fri)
- Gym exercise bike 35min & Simple Stretching (Tues, Thurs)
- Started Intermittent fasting on the 16th (due to blood draw for annual physical)
- Getting up around 4:10a (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri), up at 4:30a (Wed)
- May 21 - June 1 (intermittent fasting daily(?), more protein(?))
- DDP Yoga (Mon, Wed, Fri)
- Simple stretching (Tues, Thurs)
It's all about a lifestyle change. I went balls out in 2016, and for the most part it was an enjoyable habit that took various obstacles to derail me (especially in the fall). This time around, whilst I want results now! ... I know better. So I'm training my body in steps, and working on building those good habits...good lifestyle habits, that I plan on continuing with. I have my goals, once again, and doggonit I'm bent on succeeded.
The big thing I know people will be wondering, and one of which friends have said:
"But Rob why you gettin' up so damn early bro??" I like to workout first thing in the morning. It gives me a nice energy boost for the day. Then, I prep up my lunch for the day, and then chill a bit - getting some work put in on projects, reading email, watching / listening to some YouTube videos (e.g. Brix). Plus, after work I'm usually burnt out and feelin' lazy. I'd rather relax after work, get to bed on time , and get up early and get my grind on. I'm weird, I know.
As a bonus (ish) type thing for reading (skimming?) this far......
What is DDP Yoga? Why DDP Yoga? Isn't it just Yoga?
- Is it: No, it's not JUST Yoga.
- Why: Because it works and my body needs everything that it offers
- What: It's not your mama's yoga! (to get less technical: Yoga with calisthenics and a bit more)
- To get an idea of what it can accomplish, here's the video I love to share with people, I promise it's worth the watch, it's damn impressive...
