Having the pager for two weeks straight had a bit of a mental toll - I felt confined and restricted by it. It was not super busy, but there's that "what if" factor - I don't want to be in the middle of a heavy routine and have the pager go off; sometimes it interrupts my sleep. 4th of July definitely didn't help with the sleep department...no I didn't stay up, but a lot of loud booms helped make sure that I was woken up through out the night. Lets add on the fact that I've been unbelievably distracted by a computer video game (The Forest)....lots of YouTube video watching, and lots of playing it in creative mode to figure things out....essentially this gave me a mental overload. How so? The game involves cannibals...and a lot of dark stuff. Do I really need to explain further? Fun game really - challenging, etc.. ...but the way I went about things, ultimately draining. ...oh, and twice this week at work I had a second cup of coffee....yea, I was that tired at work (or simply felt the need for the extra umph - at least on Tuesday).
Honestly, I am a bit disappointed in myself for not making it to the gym more than once this week. I'm looking forward to next week when I don't have the pager after Tuesday morning...sadly, that's the middle of the week. I don't know, I'll figure something out.
Once the park next to the hospital (where I work) opens up, I'm going to get back into jogging during lunch instead of walking, that should help out greatly. Then, I can focus my morning on more physical workouts and do cardio during lunch - it will be a great combo. Unfortunately, the city wants to make a grand showing of the park, and due to the weather being dumb, was not able to do said "grand opening" in June, so they pushed it back an entire month. Yes, I could jog around the block, but I really don't like that - too many obstacles involved (sprinklers that aren't calibrated correctly, elderly folks with walkers, various individuals walking their dogs)...not that the park trail will clear up most of these obstacles, but at least there won't be any screwed up sprinklers...and the trail should be a smidge bit wider than the sidewalk around the block.
Anyway.... that's my update for the week in regards to my working out. As for an update on my weight loss, the positive side is that my weight has been slowly going down this week (regardless of the gym). The negative side, I'm not making the droops this week that I previously have been. As of this morning, I'm currently sitting at: 190.3 lbs - creeping down a smidge each day...until today, where it's the same as yesterday (better than climbing back up at least - especially with lack of real cardio workouts).
So what is my take on things? I'm going to view this week as my calibration week.
- Re-calibrate my meals a bit (I've been a bit lame in that area this week)
- Re-calibrate my workouts (lets face it, I need to)
- Re-calibrate my mental focus (no duh)
If you're reading this, just remember: Everyone goes through this kind of thing from time to time. It's life. All that matters is how you handle it, and how you bounce back from it. So keep your head up, get your focus on, and keep grinding.
